Student Poster Prizes
The Foundation has partnered with the American Board of Certification for Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABC) to identify and celebrate outstanding research by orthotic and prosthetic students. ABC Student Poster Prizes will be awarded to outstanding student-created posters accepted for presentation at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy's) Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium. Up to three Poster Prizes are awarded annually. Each includes a cash award:
First Place - $1,000
Second Place - $850
Third Place - $650
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for award consideration, applicants must be a student currently enrolled in a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited O&P program who has completed at least one semester toward their degree program. Applicants' posters will be reviewed by a committee of scientific and clinical experts and will be evaluated for: (1) quality and thoroughness of the work, (2) originality and independence of their contributions, (3) significance and timeliness of the research results, and (4) depth of understanding of the research topic.
How to Apply
Prepare a poster abstract describing the results of your work
Abstracts should be developed an formatted using the template provided by the Academy in its annual call for poster presentations.
Submit your poster abstract using the procedures specified by the Academy in its annual call for poster presentations (the abstract must be submitted by the deadline noted in the Academy's call for poster presentations).
During the submission process, indicate where noted that you would like the abstract to be considered for the ABC Resident Travel Award.
Email a copy of the poster abstract to the Foundation at submissions@oandpfoundation.org.
The subject of your email should read "ABC Poster Presentation submission".
Confirm in the body of the email that you are currently enrolled as a student at a CAHEEP accredited O&P program.
Confirm that you agree to present the poster at the Academy Meeting if you are are selected to receive the ABC Student Poster Prize.
Submission Details
Applicants are responsible for ensuring all materials are received by the Foundation by the due dates posted by the Academy. Application materials must be received by 5:00pm Eastern Time on the posted deadline.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Varies annually, see the website for the Academy's Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium for the submission due date.
