Chester Haddan Scholarship

The O&P Foundation along with generous support from The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) offer a scholarship to honor the legacy of Chester Haddan to support individuals pursuing a clinical Master's degree in orthotics and prosthetics (O&P). The Chester Haddan Scholarship includes a $2,500 cash award*. One Chester Haddan Scholarship is given annually to a deserving O&P master’s program student.  

*All scholarships are considered taxable income, recipients will receive a 1099 IRS Form for the award tax year

About Chester Haddan 

The Chester Haddan Scholarship was established in honor of Chester Haddan, CPO, the first President of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC). 

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time CAAHEP-accredited O&P master’s program and display leadership qualities.

How to Apply

Students may apply directly for the scholarship, or a professor may nominate them. To be considered for the award, students must submit the following:

1. Complete the Chester Haddan Scholarship Fund application when the submission portal opens.

2. Obtain a letter of reference from someone who can speak to your leadership attributes.

3. Obtain a transcript (that includes the current academic semester) from your institution. 

   • • Official transcripts are not required; however, unofficial transcripts must be signed by your Program Director

4. Create a video to demonstrate professional presentation and communication.

   • • The video should be 2-3 minutes and should demonstrate your leadership, innovation, self-awareness, and/or collaboration, as well as discuss your goals for future leadership within the O&P profession.

5.  Prepare a document to include information regarding your work experience, volunteer activities, and leadership opportunities

   • •  2-page maximum in PDF format

Submission 

Applicants are responsible for ensuring all materials are received by The O&P Foundation by the due dates posted deadline. Application materials must be received by 5:00pm Central Time on the posted deadline.
